The Team
Bank of America’s Global Capital Markets business comprises Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Leveraged Finance (LevFin), and the Sustainable Solutions Group (SSG).
Across these businesses, we assist clients in accessing and navigating the financial markets and provide tailored capital markets solutions to address a broad range of objectives. Clients include investment grade and sub-investment grade corporates, financial institutions, private equity firms, and sovereign, supranational, and agency (SSA) issuers.
Business Overview
- DCM products: bonds, loans, capital products, liability management, and Foreign Exchange (FX) and rates solutions
- ECM products: Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), accelerated book buildings, rights issues, convertible bonds, and bespoke derivatives transactions
- Leveraged Finance products: leveraged loans and high yield bonds supporting acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, take-private transactions, dividend recapitalisations, and refinancings of existing sub-investment grade issuers and private equity portfolio companies
- SSG: advises clients on sustainability-related matters that influence financing, valuation, and strategic decision-making, working closely with partners across Investment Banking, DCM, and ECM to deliver sustainable finance solutions and insights that support clients’ long-term objectives
Programme Overview
The Capital Markets Summer Analyst programme offers a broad and exciting experience within one of the Global Capital Markets teams, with exposure to and connectivity across the other groups during the programme.
Applicants can indicate a preference between DCM, ECM, LevFin, or SSG. Following the selection process, successful candidates could be placed within any of the four Capital Markets teams.
Training and Development
Your training and development is a top priority, including extensive formal training at the start of the programme, on-the-job support, educational speaker events, and mentorship throughout.
Responsibilities
As a Summer Analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Work alongside product specialists with clients at top management level to create and deliver financing solutions
- Develop a strong understanding of market fundamentals and make market-informed contributions across a broad array of financing strategies that address clients’ specific needs
- Design highly tailored presentations for clients outlining solutions to their financing needs (including general corporate purpose, sustainable-themed, and acquisition financings)
- Work on live transactions and interact with clients and professionals across the bank to build your network and experience
- Work with Investment Banking and Corporate Banking teams on client coverage and origination
- Develop an understanding of how investors integrate sustainability in their investment decisions
- Coordinate and manage live deal executions with sales teams and traders in Global Markets, and liaise with Global Research to stay informed on the latest market developments
Eligibility
- Required to be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a completion time frame between June 2027 and July 2028
- Completion means completing all final exams and coursework, with no outstanding requirements for graduation (Bank of America may request evidence of the completion date before extending an offer)
- On track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
- Applications accepted from a diverse range of degree disciplines, including arts and humanities and numerically focused subjects such as economics and mathematics
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in any European language would be highly desirable
- Candidates who perform well during the internship may be offered full-time employment to commence in July 2028; some lines of business may offer a January or April start date
- If offered, you must be available to join on one of these start dates; deferrals are not available

Essential
- Fluency in English is essential for all roles; the local language is required for regional roles

- Preference for Leveraged Finance applicants with previous coursework or internship experience in finance
- Demonstrate drive, innovation, and a genuine interest in the financial markets
- Strong teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills, plus creativity; ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and interact with a variety of people
- Displays analytical and problem-solving skills
Desired
- Competent user of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
