2027 Summer Analyst – Internal Audit

Summer Interns will gain hands-on experience within our Internal Audit function and receive career-building mentorship.

Programme Details

As a Summer Intern, you will experience the key areas of our Internal Audit function and the different phases of the audit cycle to develop insight into the responsibilities of a full-time Internal Audit Analyst. You will gain valuable exposure to the operations of a major international investment bank and receive the hands-on experience needed to kick-start your career.

Learning and Experience

Summer Interns will gain exposure to Internal Audit, working alongside experienced professionals and developing a deeper understanding in:

• Identifying and assessing the firm’s business processes and internal control structure to evaluate risks and compensating controls.
• Influencing management and stakeholders on developing control solutions to mitigate identified risks and monitoring the implementation of these solutions.
• Exposure to various stages of the audit methodology.

During the programme, projects may include:

• Developing an understanding of the RBC Businesses (Capital Markets and Wealth Management) and support functions.
• Participating in various stages of audit work, including review of associated documentation, such as:
  • Understanding the business objectives and the environment in which they operate.
  • Assessing the business processes and supporting the execution of a testing strategy to assess key controls.
  • Developing and editing reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Involvement in the verification of control enhancements made by the business following audit issues raised.
• Contributing to team discussions, openly sharing experiences and ideas to improve audit practices and coverage.
• Continuously learning and developing financial services knowledge, communication, and leadership skills.

Training and Development

You will be supported and developed throughout the programme through:

• On-the-job training.
• Classroom-based training covering internal audit knowledge and practical exposure to internal audit practices and risk management frameworks.
• Speaker series – regular, cross-platform information sessions delivered by leading market professionals.
• Assigned Manager and Buddy programme.
• Networking opportunities.
• Social events with the wider 2026 Capital Markets cohort and Internal Audit team.

You will receive mid- and end-of-summer reviews, along with constructive feedback from your manager throughout your placement, ensuring you gain a solid understanding of the elements necessary for a successful career in the Internal Audit function.
