Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is a premier investment bank providing a focused set of products and services to institutions, corporations, governments, and high net worth clients in over 100 countries.

Interns will gain hands-on experience within RBC’s Quantitative and Technology Services (QTS) function and receive career-building mentorship. Each year, RBC recruits successful applicants into its London QTS teams across a range of areas suited to driven and focused students.

Programme Details

QTS supports front-to-back trading technology for the bank. As a Summer Intern, you will be placed in a technology-driven role to develop an insight into the responsibilities of a full-time Analyst supporting trading technology. You will work on innovative front-to-back technology solutions that help transform how RBC does business.

This programme provides exposure to the operations of a major international investment bank and the hands-on experience needed to kick-start your career. It is aimed at candidates who are technology orientated and interested in working closely with teams including front office trading, operations, risk, finance, and quantitative analytics.

At the end of the Summer Internship Programme, subject to strong performance, candidates may be offered a place on the QTS Graduate programme.

Responsibilities / Learning from Experience

Summer Interns are given various projects to complete, which may include:

  • Liaise with key stakeholders to establish and analyse business needs
  • Drive improvements in processes, services, and products for the business
  • Evaluate systems, integrate, and develop necessary software
  • Test and deploy tools and applications

Training and Development

You will be supported and developed throughout the programme through:

  • Classroom-based training covering commercial and industry knowledge
  • Speaker Series—regular cross-division information sessions delivered by leading market professionals
  • On-the-job training
  • Buddy programme
  • Networking and shadowing opportunities
  • Social events with the wider 2027 Capital Markets cohort

You will receive mid- and end-of-summer reviews, along with constructive feedback from your manager throughout your placement.
