The Anti Scam Products Team

The GovTech Anti Scam Products Team's mission is to build technological solutions to detect, disrupt, and deter scammers at scale. This work encompasses data infrastructure, developing and deploying AI & ML for proactive detection, establishing API connections with partners, and building front-end systems for enforcement agencies.

Role Overview

Bring your engineering expertise and problem-solving ability to the fight against scams using technology. You will deliver features spanning multiple components, make sound trade-offs between speed, quality, and maintainability, and take growing ownership of the systems you build.

We leverage cloud services and open source wherever possible, utilizing AWS, React/React Native, and a mix of SQL/NoSQL databases. We prioritize knowing what to build versus what to reuse to focus on delivering value rather than re-solving solved problems.

Responsibilities

• Build Proofs of Concept (POCs) and features spanning multiple components to demonstrate technological opportunities.
• Contribute to system architecture and design decisions, with mentorship on cross-component trade-offs.
• Write and review production-quality code, expanding test coverage across key workflows.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, manage cloud deployments, and own observability for deployed services (logging, metrics, SLIs/SLOs).
• Participate in incident triage and resolution, escalating complex issues appropriately.
• Utilize AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate delivery, reviewing AI-generated code to the same standard as human-authored code.

Requirements

Must Have

• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and/or TypeScript.
• Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) setups.
• Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud.
• Strong command of algorithms and data structures.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience running containers or serverless services.
• Experience building high-scale, low-latency APIs and deploying scaled AI/ML solutions.
• Familiarity with data-intensive frameworks and data warehousing (e.g., AWS Glue, Spark); bonus for graph databases (e.g., Neo4j).
• Experience with event-driven and streaming architectures using SQS/SNS/EventBridge; bonus for Kinesis.
