Research Associates partner with Analysts to provide differentiated analysis and value-added insight regarding publicly traded companies and industry trends for institutional clients. Associates work in small teams with significant responsibility in contributing to published research. They develop expertise in financial modeling and proprietary research techniques.

Responsibilities

The Research Associate will support Research Analysts with the following duties:

• Producing actionable research and making investment calls for Davidson’s institutional clients.
• Researching market and industry trends and company specifics to become an expert in the assigned sector.
• Creating, maintaining, and updating data within financial models, including developing tables and graphs to illustrate complex information.
• Gaining experience in formulating and issuing opinions and recommendations on securities and companies within specific industry groups.
• Preparing reports and statistical data for dissemination to firm clients and the investing public.
• Answering inquiries from customers, firm personnel, and the general public regarding individual securities or industry groups.
• Discussing research findings with Sales & Trading associates and institutional clients (such as analysts and portfolio managers at major mutual funds and hedge funds).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work well independently.
• Effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation abilities.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• CFA certification is a plus.
• Experience: Recent graduate or up to 1 year of experience in equity research, investment analysis, or relevant accounting/finance work.
• Licenses strongly preferred but not required: Securities Industry Essentials Exam, Series 86, 87, and 63. (Note: New hires without these licenses will require successful completion upon hiring.)
