ShopBack·Singapore·Design & Branding

ShopBack is hiring a Product Builder Intern (Product Design) in Singapore. Posted 2026-08-17; applications close 2026-10-19 (in 29 days).

Role details

The ShopBack Group is Asia-Pacific’s leading shopping, rewards, and payments platform, serving over 20 million active members across 13 markets. Since founding in 2014, ShopBack has empowered over US$5.5 billion in annual sales for more than 20,000 online and in-store partners, rewarding shoppers with over US$900 million in Cashback to date. Driven by the vision to make every day more rewarding, ShopBack dedicates itself to saving members money and time while enabling merchants and brands to engage cost-effectively.

Notably, our payment solution, ShopBack Pay, offers members a convenient and rewarding checkout experience.

The Opportunity

ShopBack now serves over 45 million shoppers across Asia with cashback, deals, and discovery. We are building the next layer: AI-native shopping experiences designed to personalize, guide, and delight users at scale.

This is not an entry-level, cosmetic internship. You will be given real consumer surfaces, an AI-native toolkit, and the expectation to ship functional features. We seek a "builder in training" who bridges product thinking and development—someone energized by an open brief. You will collaborate with product and business teams across 13 markets in an environment focused on building AI-first systems, not just adding AI features.

What You'll Own

You will drive the development of consumer-facing features, owning workstreams from concept to user impact. This role emphasizes building to prototype, utilizing AI-assisted tools to create working models before comprehensive specs are finalized.

Key areas of ownership include:

  • AI-Native Approach: Applying an AI-native approach to all tasks by understanding and leveraging agentic workflows, and building durable tools for team continuity.
  • Quality and Craftsmanship: Being accountable for the standard of work, paying strict attention to localization, edge cases, and interaction detail—not just the "happy path." You are responsible for testing and setting the quality bar for all AI output, as "it looks right" is never sufficient.
  • System Thinking: Moving beyond one-off outputs; you will learn how systems connect and leave behind reusable patterns, components, and documented decisions consumable by engineers and AI tools.
  • Research and Insight: Running interviews, surveys, and usability tests, then synthesizing findings into clear, actionable insights for the team.
  • Collaboration: Engaging daily with Product Managers, Engineers, Data Scientists, Research, Marketing, and Business Leaders, requiring you to rapidly develop a regional perspective.
  • Mentorship: Benefiting from dedicated mentorship with regular exposure to senior builders and product leaders who will challenge your thinking.

Who You Are

We are looking for a motivated individual who embodies the following traits:

  • Education & Build Focus: Penultimate or final-year student, or a recent graduate, from any discipline. What you have built matters more than where you studied.
  • AI Builder: You must have demonstrable experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) to build agentic workflows, sharpen analysis, and accelerate work in an academic or professional setting. This is a baseline requirement.
  • Problem Solver: You are comfortable with ambiguity, solution-centric, and adept at identifying the root problem rather than merely answering the posed question.
  • Product Mindset: Possessing a developing eye for product quality coupled with the ability to prototype consumer experiences end-to-end, articulating *why* choices were made.
  • Clear Communicator: Fluent in written and spoken English, capable of collaborating effectively with stakeholders across diverse markets.
  • Self-Starter: You demonstrate strong initiative, learn rapidly, and proactively drive tasks without needing constant supervision.
  • Curiosity & Teamwork: Genuine interest in technology, digital commerce, or growth businesses, thriving in collaborative environments while elevating those around you.
  • Ownership: Holding firm accountability for outcomes, not just completing assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Availability for a full-time 6-month internship based at our Singapore office.
  • Submission of at least one tangible piece of work evidence (portfolio, personal project, or public repository link) with your application.
  • Proficiency in English, essential for cross-market team collaboration.

How We Work

Our team operates in an AI-native workflow, moving beyond simple tool usage. This includes generating prototypes before specifications, retaining systems and patterns as machine-readable knowledge layers, and rigorously evaluating AI output using shared, adversarial test datasets. You will be expected to adopt and model these high standards.

ShopBacker Traits

  • Agency: Taking ownership to drive progress; finding and executing solutions when blockers arise.
  • Judgement: Prioritizing high-impact decisions and the bigger picture over easy wins, ensuring thoughtful speed.
  • Learning Velocity: Quickly adopting new skills and readily moving on from outdated practices to meet the highest standards.
  • Tenacity: Maintaining composure and commitment through difficult phases, debating openly before deciding, and fully supporting team commitments.

What's in it for ShopBackers

  • Opportunities for significant career growth and tackling challenging projects.
  • The chance to be part of a rapidly scaling, global team.
  • Competitive compensation tied to performance.
  • A culture defined by candidness, open communication, and valued feedback.
