Role details

Business Unit

The Energy, Infrastructure, & Transition (EIT) Investment Banking team provides investment banking services to existing and prospective clients in digital infrastructure, power, utilities, renewables, infrastructure, midstream, and upstream energy. The team has a global coverage strategy across North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Australia.

Our client-centric approach combines M&A and other financial advisory services with full access to the debt, equity, and loan capital markets. The team also delivers complex risk and hedging solutions. The EIT team manages a market-leading platform from offices in New York, Houston, Toronto, Calgary, London, and Bogota, with the New York office as the largest in the team’s global footprint.

We primarily support clients through a variety of transactions, including M&A (buy-side and sell-side) across public and private markets; capital structure advisory, including public and private-market capital raises (debt and equity across various product types); construction and term financings; refinancings; and public-private partnerships.

The coverage mandate includes, among others: digital infrastructure and data centers, behind-the-meter power generation, airports, seaports, roads and bridges, light and heavy rail, educational facilities, hospitals, midstream energy, renewables (including solar, onshore wind, and offshore wind), battery storage, thermal power generation, regulated utilities, district energy, and water treatment assets. EIT supports clients as they navigate the energy transition from carbon-intensive fuels to sustainable solutions, including the impacts of this transition on connected industries.

CIBC was named North American Financial Advisor of the Year in 2019 by IJGlobal and is the leading North American Renewables M&A advisor since 2017 (by gross deal value and number of transactions closed, per Inframation).

What You’ll Be Doing

EIT’s coverage universe across digital infrastructure, power, utilities, energy, and infrastructure provides the opportunity to play an integral role advising on significant transactions that support the AI build-out and broader re-industrialization of North America. The EIT team supports clients through M&A, strategic advisory, capital structure advisory, equity and debt capital financings, and tax equity transactions.
