The Placement Programme

In the Menzies Restructuring & Insolvency team, we value solid thinking, proven experience, and valuable insight to support sound decisions. Our Insolvency professionals serve as Trusted Advisors to individuals, companies, financial sponsors, lenders, creditors, and other interested parties, providing clear and concise solutions to distressed situations.

The firm prides itself on the experience and responsibility it offers placement students. The work is varied, and the placement student will gain exposure to a range of insolvency procedures, including Administrations, Liquidations (solvent and insolvent), and personal insolvency cases such as Bankruptcy and Individual Voluntary Arrangements.

Role Responsibilities

  • Use the firm’s established internal systems to produce standard letters and forms on case-related matters to comply with all regulatory obligations.
  • Handle correspondence (written correspondence and telephone calls) in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with and provide feedback to creditors, employees, and directors of insolvent estates.
  • Liaise with solicitors, chattel agents, and debt collection agents to ensure asset realisations are maximised.
  • Collate information and assist in the preparation of reports.
  • Take ownership of cases and manage your own workload.
  • Keep line managers appraised on progress.
  • Assist and support other members of the team as required.
  • Take an active part in the firm and contribute to its “work winning team” ethos.

The job may involve travel to clients’ sites away from the office.

Qualifications & Key Skills

  • Collaborative and eager to take on new challenges.
  • Minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate degree in any degree discipline.
  • On track to receive a minimum of 2 x A levels (A–C) and one other A level or equivalent.
  • 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C or 9-4 (including Maths and English Language, or equivalent).
  • Ability to absorb new information and adapt quickly.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and demonstrating strong attention to detail.
  • Clear and thoughtful written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to explain financial information in an accessible and supportive manner.
