Helix is a specialist property management company established in 1996. The company focuses on building long-lasting and transparent client and occupier relationships. Helix manages a nationwide portfolio of over 200 properties totalling around 7.5 million sq. ft. across all commercial asset classes. Helix’s entire business, including the accounts team, operates under one roof with all staff based in a central London office.
In February 2022, Helix was acquired by Hines, further expanding Hines’ property management offering and customer-centric approach in the UK. Helix has worked with Hines for the past 10 years, providing property management services across the majority of properties in the Hines UK portfolio.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Building Manager will help with all aspects of the day-to-day management and assist in delivering first-class service across cleaning, security, reception, postal services, service desk, IT services, telephone, and administration. The role supports the Facilities/Building Manager and Property Director/Surveyors whenever necessary.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain and manage the client’s property in a cost-efficient manner.
- Protect the interests of the client/Helix Property Advisors as their representative, conducting all facilities/building related business professionally.
- Fully familiarise yourself with all building layouts and systems.
- Liaise with the Facilities/Building Manager to ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and legal requirements.
- Complete administration in line with Helix Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) policies and operational procedures.
- Act within the authority delegated by Helix Property.
- As requested, perform other duties necessary for the smooth and efficient running of the building.
- Ensure duties and responsibilities are executed to industry “Best Practice Standards” at all times.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include:
- Proven facilities/administrative experience.
- Experience liaising with clients, tenants, consultants, and local authorities.
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation.
- IOSH.
- Similar experience within a competitor company.
- Basic understanding of commercial leases and service charges.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good numerical skills, including computer literacy (Excel, Word, MS Outlook).
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Ability to take initiative and responsibility.
- Ability to work under pressure.
