Purpose of the Role

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the Capital Markets division, providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.

Accountabilities

  • Execute small research projects to support strategic decision-making; prepare presentations and reports to communicate research findings; collaborate with senior management to implement research outcomes; advise corporate clients to deliver holistic, structured solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and help manage the deployment and launch of new products and services for Capital Markets.
  • Manage client relationships and provide customer service support, including responding to questions about products and services and processing transactions, with supervision steadily decreasing over time.
  • Manage the development and implementation of financial models and strategies to support decision-making in Capital Markets.

As a Summer Analyst, you’ll learn from several specialist areas covering equity and debt origination, loans, structuring, risk management and syndication. These areas operate within the following business units: Debt Capital Markets (GTC), Risk Solutions Group (GTC), Sustainable Banking Group (GTC), Equity Capital Markets (CM), Fixed Income Syndicate (CM), Leveraged Finance Syndicate (CM) and Leveraged Finance (CM). On this programme, you may work on live deals and deal proposals, prepare new business presentations, and build the art of executing transactions.

Who We're Looking For

To be considered for this programme, you must be in your penultimate or final year of your degree, in any discipline.

Ideally, you’ll have a keen interest in business and finance and a curiosity to learn. We value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, which may be demonstrated through your involvement in extracurricular activities.

Visa Sponsorship and Right to Work

Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and will provide a skilled worker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office’s eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa. Successful applicants who are not eligible to receive a skilled worker visa, and who Barclays is therefore unable to secure a skilled worker visa for, will be required to have their own legal right to work in the UK on a full-time basis from June 2027 to August 2027.
