Purpose of the Role
To participate in the day-to-day activities of the Investment Banking division. Gain broad exposure to different types of clients, transactions, and specialist areas.
Accountabilities
- Collaborate on live deals and client pitches; support the team with advising on a broad range of corporate clients by delivering holistic, structured solutions to meet client goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Identify opportunities, develop business cases, and support the management, deployment, and launch of new products and services for investment banking.
- Manage client relationships and provide customer service support to clients and customers with steadily decreasing supervision; respond to questions about products and services and process transactions.
- Develop and implement financial models and strategies to support decision-making in investment banking; understand how businesses work and learn from industry experts.

Why the Investment Banking Summer Intern Programme?
As a Banking intern, you will work with our Coverage and Mergers and Acquisition teams. You will help address clients’ most strategic questions. You will advise a broad range of corporate clients and deliver holistic, structured solutions to help clients achieve their goals—through mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, structured solutions, or risk management.
As a Summer Analyst, you will spend the summer learning the art and science behind executing a transaction. As a member of one of our industry, product, or geographic groups, you will work on live deals and deal proposals.
You may also work on projects that include:
- Financial analysis and modelling
- Valuation
- Industry research
- Client due diligence
- Developing written materials, including offering memoranda and new business presentations

Who We’re Looking For
To be considered for this programme, you must be in your penultimate or final year of your degree in any discipline.
Ideally, you have a keen interest in business and finance and a curiosity to learn. We value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm, and an entrepreneurial spirit, which may be demonstrated through your involvement in extracurricular activities.
Barclays will accept applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the UK and will provide a skilled worker visa for successful applicants if they meet the Home Office’s eligibility criteria for a skilled worker visa. Successful applicants who are not eligible to receive a skilled worker visa, and who Barclays is therefore unable to secure a skilled worker visa for, will be required to have their own legal right to work in the UK on a full-time basis from June 2027 to August 2027.
