Role details
Summary
At Apple, new ideas quickly become extraordinary products, services, and customer experiences. The RTL Design team at the UK GPU Design Centre works on complex, large-scale GPU-related projects. You will partner with graphics architecture, functional verification, and physical design teams to deliver high-quality graphics IP and meet performance, feature, timing, area, and power goals.
Description
- Work closely with other designers to refine GPU micro-architectural specifications.
- Collaborate with architecture, physical design, and verification teams to identify potential issues early.
- Implement the micro-architecture on cutting-edge technology nodes, balancing energy efficiency, performance, and area with project schedule, maintainability, and coding elegance.
- Review synthesis and power reports; perform root-cause analysis and resolve timing and power issues to ensure maximal QoR (quality of results) throughout the design.
- As the design approaches functional completion, work with the verification team to ensure correct behavior and thorough test coverage.
- Coordinate with the physical design team on adjustments needed to produce an optimal layout in context.
- After system integration, simulate and debug issues both within and around your design.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous complex IP design experience required.
- Understanding of implementing modern design techniques.
- Hands-on experience with energy-efficient and low-power logic design.
- Strong background in computer architecture, including one or more of: high-speed CMOS processor and controller blocks, cache controllers, bus-interface subsystems, integer and floating-point numeric units, digital filters, graphics processors, crossbar fabrics, and other high-speed data-path control units.
- Well-versed in logic optimization, synthesis, and timing analysis.
- Fluency with RTL Verilog/VHDL syntax and hardware modelling.
- Familiarity with logic simulation and debug environments as well as formal verification.
- Ability to work well in a team and be productive under tight schedules.
- Excellent communications skills, self-motivated, and well-organised.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on GPUs is desirable but not required.
