Overview

Your Job: Chentronics, LLC is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineering Co-Op to join our team in Norwich, NY for Fall/Winter 2026. This onsite role provides hands-on experience in embedded systems design, software development, and product implementation for industrial ignition and flame detection systems. Working with experienced engineers and a dedicated mentor, you will contribute to the design, testing, validation, documentation, and implementation of products used in demanding industrial applications.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in the design and implementation of embedded systems for industrial ignition and flame detection products.
  • Support the selection and integration of embedded target devices, peripheral interfaces, and supporting electronic circuitry.
  • Develop and implement embedded software using industry-standard programming practices.
  • Assist in implementing and testing standard communication protocols and hardware interfaces.
  • Design, build, and support product test equipment used for validation and production testing.
  • Collaborate with a diverse engineering team through all phases of product development, including concept, design, testing, verification, documentation, and production support.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including code flowcharts, software documentation, work instructions, and code commenting standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback on product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Will be enrolled as a Junior-level student or higher at the start of the co-op assignment.
  • Available to work full-time onsite in Norwich, NY for the duration of the co-op term (4–8 months).

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience programming in C, C++, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, or electronic hardware projects through coursework, internships, clubs, or personal projects.
  • Exposure to embedded software development, hardware interfacing, communication protocols, or electronics design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document technical work effectively.

Compensation

For this role, we anticipate paying $28–$30 per hour. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
