What You Can Expect

Jefferies’ lean deal team structure enables Summer Associates to work closely with senior bankers on pitches and live deals while overseeing Summer Analysts’ work product. The role goes beyond performing fundamental analysis and research into companies and markets. Summer Associates are expected to understand market implications, identify key industry and product trends, and contribute to pitch and deal materials to enhance client deliverables.

Summer Associates add value to the team from day one. They are expected to think creatively and pursue projects with excellence, a collaborative spirit, and the highest levels of integrity.

Following an enriching orientation and training program, Summer Associates begin their day-to-day responsibilities with support from colleagues serving as instructors and mentors throughout the 10-week engagement. The program also includes social and educational events to support professional development and expand your network, helping Associates build lasting relationships with peers and senior bankers. Summer Associates receive formal performance reviews.

Summer Associate Responsibilities

• Perform and review financial valuation, discounted cash flow, and comparable companies multiples-based analyses
• Build and use financial models
• Prepare pitch books and live deal materials, such as offering memorandums and prospectuses
• Conduct industry and product research
• Analyze detailed corporate and financial information
• Participate in the execution of financings, M&A, and restructuring and recapitalization transactions

What We Look For in a Candidate

Jefferies seeks candidates eager to make an impact through real, hands-on work and participation on active deal teams. Successful Summer Associates are able to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills, along with strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.

The work is fast-paced, intense, and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, adapt, and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits.

You should have a strong academic background and be in the process of completing the first year of a two-year MBA degree or equivalent. While accounting or finance background is helpful, Summer Associates are hired from a variety of academic disciplines. Eligible candidates must be graduating with an MBA between December 2027 and June 2028.

New York, NY: Generalist Program

Jefferies’ Generalist Program offers broad exposure to a spectrum of opportunities. Hands-on product experience may include projects involving equity, equity-linked and debt financing, leveraged finance and lending, M&A advisory, and recapitalization and restructuring services.
