Cybersecurity Analyst

About the Position

As an intern, you’ll be paired with full-time employees who act as mentors and collaborate with you on real-world projects the team needs.

We’re looking for passionate, inquisitive students interested in security and technology to join us in our New York office for a Cybersecurity Analyst internship. Our Cybersecurity Analysts help guard the firm from cyber threats through investigations and incident response. They also build tools and automation to streamline, automate, and improve workflows—expanding the firm’s cybersecurity capabilities.

Our Cybersecurity team is made up of skilled programmers and security experts dedicated to keeping the firm safe. We stay current with developments across the broader cybersecurity landscape, and focus on what matters in day-to-day work.

As an investigator, you’ll investigate alerts, dig through activity chains, and hunt and respond to malicious activity. You’ll also learn about a wide variety of log sources, systems, and tooling—primarily in-house developed or open source.

As an engineer, you’ll learn good development practices and solve real problems with code, helping us detect and respond better, faster, and at scale.

You’ll also act as an ambassador for best practices across the firm. A key part of our mission is bringing everyone along on the cybersecurity journey. You should be excited to learn how we think about security, trade-offs, and sustainability, and to educate the firm about risk and best practices with that in mind.

About You

If you’ve never thought about a career in finance, you’re in good company—many of us were in the same position before working here. We’re more interested in how you think and learn than in what you currently know. You should be:

• Currently majoring or planning to major in computer science or a similar field
• Interested in cybersecurity and technology in your personal life, through activities such as CTFs, home labbing, and/or personal development projects
• A strong programmer who can demonstrate high potential and an aptitude for learning
• Interested in your tools, including your editor, computer environment, version control, etc.
• Familiar with threat modeling and able to clearly communicate your understanding of trade-offs when it comes to security, risk, and usability
• Able to explain the cybersecurity decisions you’ve made in your own life and how you approached thinking about those decisions
• Able to adapt to changing scenarios and make challenging decisions under pressure
• Humble about what you know and don’t know; not afraid to ask questions and admit mistakes
• A curious problem solver with a positive, collaborative attitude
• Someone who demonstrates perseverance and grit when investigating and learning new things beyond a surface-level understanding
