What you’ll do

During your internship, you’ll rotate between Sales and Trading desks to see how both sides work together to help clients succeed.

• Work around market hours, with the busiest moments often at market open and close.
• Get hands-on with data and global market dynamics by analysing market trends, spotting patterns, collecting and presenting data, contributing to reports, and supporting client pitches.
• Maintain trading and sales performance records and contribute to real projects that strengthen client relationships and trading strategies.
• Support client portfolios with Sales and Trading teams and learn about key asset classes, including foreign exchange, emerging market rates, commodities, global debt markets, equities, and securities financing.
• Build tools and finance models using Excel, VBA, or Python to support trading and sales activity.
• Learn to use industry platforms such as Bloomberg, Reuters, and HSBC’s own tools that support global markets.
• Build a strong foundation in financial products and how they’re used.
• Learn how risk and profitability are managed while helping clients make smart decisions.

Programme details

The programme kicks off with a week of technical and behavioural skills training to give you the confidence and tools to hit the ground running. By the end of the internship, you’ll know whether a role in Sales or Trading is your best fit.
