SGX Internship Program

Sustainability & Sustainable Finance (SSF) – Intern
Brief overview on the Unit/Team
The Sustainability and Sustainable Finance (SSF) unit was launched in February 2021, as part of SGX’s ESG initiatives under the SGX FIRST (Future in Reshaping Sustainability Together) platform. The SSF team drives SGX’s ESG ambitions and develops sustainability-focused solutions across all asset classes, working with SGX groups to set targets and achieve them together. The team considers ESG through four lenses: SGX as a company, SGX’s business, SGX as regulator, and SGX in the ecosystem, including climate transition planning.
What the intern can learn during the internship
- Gain exposure to sustainability and sustainable finance knowledge in practice from multiple stakeholder perspectives.
- Be hands-on with meaningful projects for SGX and its ecosystem, liaising with multiple SGX units and external stakeholders.
Job Description
Be responsible for maintaining the team’s workflow progress documents, support coordination with other departments and external partners, conduct research on ESG and sustainable investing topics, and participate in project teams (e.g., net zero carbon projects, greening of futures and other instruments).
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including PowerPoint).
- Attention to detail.
- Experience in research.
- Fast learner with a collaborative mindset.
- Strong team player with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
- Sustainability-related knowledge, degree or experience is a plus.
- Finance exposure, knowledge or degree is a plus.
GFANZ APAC Network Central Office – Intern
Brief overview on the Unit/Team
The Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero (GFANZ) is a global coalition of financial institutions committed to accelerating the decarbonization of the economy. Established in April 2021, GFANZ has 550+ members with $135 trillion in combined financial assets. The GFANZ APAC Network was created in June 2022 to drive net-zero finance in the Asia-Pacific region. The GFANZ APAC Network Central Office is located in Singapore and hosted by SGX Group.
What the intern can learn during the internship
- Experience a start-up-like environment with the stability of working with large financial institutions to drive net-zero initiatives.
- Gain hands-on experience scaling the GFANZ APAC NCO, developing sustainability programs, and engaging with financial institutions.
- Develop capabilities at the intersection of sustainability and finance, including capacity-building programs to support net-zero transition plans.
- Receive ongoing mentorship with 1:1 development sessions every 3–4 weeks.
Job Description
Support the scaling up and management of GFANZ APAC NCO operations in areas such as:
- Strategic planning (e.g., work plans, key initiatives) and KPI development and alignment.
Support the development and implementation of GFANZ net-zero programmes, including:
- Research on APAC-relevant net-zero areas (e.g., sectoral decarbonisation, early retirement of coal power).
- Draft net-zero programme proposals and concept notes.
- Execute GFANZ programmes and activities (workshops, webinars) with partners.
Support high-level GFANZ engagements, including:
- Interact with senior sustainability executives in financial institutions.
- Manage engagement with financial sponsors of GFANZ.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (including PowerPoint).
- Entrepreneurial with a bias to action; strong problem-solver.
- Detail-oriented and experienced in research.
- Fast learner and strong team player with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
- Sustainability-related knowledge, degree or experience is a plus.
- Finance exposure, knowledge or degree is a plus.
