Goldman Sachs Alternatives is part of Goldman Sachs Asset Management, delivering investment and advisory services across public and private markets for leading institutions, financial advisors and individuals. The platform invests in the full spectrum of alternatives, including private equity, growth equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds and sustainability. Private Credit is a primary investment area within Goldman Sachs Asset Management. The Private Credit team originates investments and invests third-party capital across senior secured loans, mezzanine/unsecured debt, preferred equity and opportunistic credit, supporting buyouts led by Private Equity sponsors. The Europe-based Private Credit platform is a top-tier direct lending platform involved in large transactions. Analysts work on small deal teams to identify, diligencing, structuring, executing and monitoring corporate debt investments across leveraged buy-outs, take privates, add-on acquisitions and recapitalizations, primarily for Private Equity-backed businesses. The work is deal-focused and exposes you to a broad range of industries, investment structures and products. Responsibilities

  • Originating investment ideas across the product suite of Credit via early engagement with relevant parties (e.g., financial sponsors / company management teams)
  • Engaging in all aspects of due diligence and business analysis to develop and refine investment theses
  • Participating in structuring, negotiating and documenting investments
  • Communicating and defending investment theses to internal stakeholders and committees, including AMD and Firm-wide Investment Committees
  • Actively monitoring existing investments in the portfolio
  • Building relationships with sponsors, management teams and internal GS stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Investment Banking and Private Credit/Direct Lending candidate with 1 to 2 years of experience
  • Strong quantitative, financial modelling, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for investing with specific interest in credit and other structured products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and creative mindset; ability to analyze a variety of industries and businesses
  • Ability to self-direct, analyze and evaluate and form independent judgments
  • Ability to interact and build relationships with a wide variety of people
