Data Engineer

About the Position

We are seeking a Data Engineer to help us understand, clean, manage, and share the data that guides our trading. At Jane Street, having a thorough and accurate understanding of data is central to our work.

Using a combination of in-house and open-source software, you will analyze datasets from various sources, check for anomalies, match formats and symbologies, automate ETL processes, and generally make it easier for our traders to generate valuable insights.

You should be enthusiastic about exploring datasets in depth and explaining your findings to diverse colleagues, collaborating closely with traders and software engineers.

While prior experience with financial data is beneficial, it is not required. We welcome talented engineers and provide the necessary training.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in any language (Python is a plus)
• Experience with SQL and relational databases
• Experience creating data visualizations
• Meticulous approach to data quality and validation
• Clear and concise communication skills; able to analyze and deconstruct technical problems efficiently
• Fluency in English is required
