Hong Kong's finance internships open across the season, not on one date: since the 2026–27 season began on 1 June 2026, 15 of the 18 firms we follow have posted one.
Each firm keeps its own window. The Securities and Futures Commission takes summer internship applications from March, and took winter internship applications on or before 11 October 2026. BDO in Hong Kong runs a spring and a summer internship programme every year.

Length is set by each firm, and the Hong Kong finance programmes we checked run from six weeks to six months.
Hang Seng Bank's Student Internship Programme is a six-month, full-time placement from January to June 2027, in functions including Audit, Finance and Commercial Banking. BDO's spring internship runs January to April and its summer internship June to August. The Securities and Futures Commission's winter internship lasts six weeks across December and January, and its summer internship six weeks, usually July to August.

In 2026–27, the Hong Kong finance programmes we checked start in December, in January or in the summer, between June and August.
At the University of Hong Kong, the first semester's assessments end on 23 December 2026, the second semester runs from 18 January to 25 May 2027, and an optional summer semester runs from 28 June to 21 August 2027. BDO's spring internship (January to April) and Hang Seng Bank's six-month programme (January to June 2027) run alongside the second semester. The Securities and Futures Commission's winter internship falls across December and January.

Each firm sets its own terms on year of study, degree and subject, so who can apply differs from one Hong Kong programme to the next.
BDO's spring and summer internships are for students in their penultimate year of study. EY's Hong Kong Internship Program takes sophomore to final-year students pursuing a bachelor's degree or above, in all disciplines. Hang Seng Bank's Student Internship Programme takes full-time university students of any discipline, or bachelor's holders with a deferred full-time master's offer. The Securities and Futures Commission takes undergraduates or postgraduates majoring in law, accounting, economics, finance, management or information technology.
