FTI Consulting publishes a general selection outline for students and graduates: a pre-recorded video interview, online assessments of numerical and written abilities, and then virtual or in-person interviews that may include a technical interview, a behavioural interview, a case study and a group exercise. The firm states the exact sequence varies by country, region and hiring team; UK 2026 postings advertise the final stage as an in-person assessment day combining a competency-based interview, a group exercise and a senior-manager interview. Because round count and case format are not standardised across the firm, a candidate applying into multiple FTI geographies is preparing for a different sequence in each — the recorded video and online tests are the front-loaded hurdles to clear before the longer-loop stages take up calendar time.

FTI's early-careers hub lists distinct programs by geography:

• United Kingdom: Summer Internship Program (8 weeks; the 2026 cohort ran 6 July to 28 August), Placement Year Internship Program (12 months), and a Graduate Program hiring full-time into a specific practice.
• United States: an IMPACT pre-internship for rising juniors (graduation dates December 2028 to August 2029), an 8 to 10-week Internship Program (graduation December 2027 to August 2028), and an entry-level Consultant role for graduating seniors.
• Australia: Winter Internship (4 to 6 weeks, May to July) and a Graduate Program starting each February, both feeding the Graduate Development Program.
• Asia: an Internship Program of 6 to 24 weeks starting January to June or August to October, plus a Graduate Consultant track.
• Spain: a 6-month Internship Program starting January to March or September to October, and a Graduate Consultant track.
• France, Germany, Middle East, Netherlands, Sweden, Italy: openings on an ad hoc basis.

Hires are made into a named practice — Corporate Finance & Restructuring, Forensic and Litigation Consulting, Economic Consulting, Technology or Strategic Communications — so a single FTI application commits to both a geography and a practice up-front, narrowing the role search rather than entering a general consulting pool.

FTI does not publish a single firmwide deadline; the early-careers page sets a different cycle per geography:

• United Kingdom: Summer Internship, Placement Year and Graduate Program applications open the September or October before the role starts; the 2027 cycle opens September to October 2026, after the 2026 cohort closed.
• Australia: Winter Internship applications open in mid-February; Graduate Program applications open in July, for a February commencement the following year.
• Asia: Graduate Consultant applications open in August; the 6 to 24-week internship accepts applications throughout the year.
• Spain: internship and graduate applications are accepted throughout the year.
• Netherlands, Sweden, Italy: opportunities open on an ad hoc basis.

Each geography therefore runs to its own clock. A candidate targeting more than one FTI office is preparing several applications against separate, non-overlapping windows — a UK applicant watches the September-October opening, an Australian one mid-February for winter and July for graduate, and applicants elsewhere submit on a rolling basis.
