Audit & Assurance – Intern – Financial Statement Audit – Summer 2028

This internship program provides an introduction to auditing. As an intern in Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance practice, you will gain real-world experience in the auditing profession and learn about the day-to-day responsibilities of an auditor. You will receive guidance from experienced audit professionals and have opportunities to participate in networking activities.

You will be exposed to current issues shaping the profession and topics related to your own career development. Your coach will provide timely, constructive feedback on your performance.

Work You’ll Do During Your Internship

You will sharpen your analytical skills by auditing client financials, transactions, and internal control processes. You will collaborate with audit team members to learn how to apply risk assessment concepts and design and perform audit procedures responsive to those risks. You will execute these procedures using cutting-edge audit tools and technologies, including artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, data visualizations, and process flow automation, to perform data interrogation and analysis of client data.

You will have the opportunity to work across Deloitte's Audit and Assurance offerings—including Audit, Specialized Assurance, Accounting & Reporting, Controls, and Internal Audit—combining diverse skills, leading-edge technology, and a global network to deliver high-quality audits, assurance reports, and insights that shape how organizations report and operate. As a Financial Statement Audit Intern, you may:

• Work alongside experienced audit professionals to deliver high-quality financial statement audits for leading clients across various industries.
• Develop a strong foundation in accounting, auditing, risk assessment, and professional judgment through real client work and structured learning.
• Gain hands-on experience performing audit procedures over key financial statement accounts, transactions, and disclosures.
• Help evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls related to financial reporting.
• Analyze financial information and supporting documentation to identify risks, trends, and potential issues.
• Prepare clear, accurate, and well-organized audit documentation in line with professional standards and firm methodology.
• Collaborate directly with client personnel and engagement teams to gather information, resolve questions, and support audit execution.
• Use innovative tools, data analytics, and emerging technologies to enhance audit quality and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• Definitive plans to meet minimum educational requirements for CPA licensure (which may differ from the requirements to sit for the CPA exam) in the state of your assigned office location prior to beginning full-time employment.
• Strong academic record, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Reside within a commutable distance of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required.
• Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work and the clients/industries you serve.
• Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Dual major/minor in a technology-related degree or area such as management information systems, business analytics, computer science, CIS, data analytics, engineering, information science/management, or math.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or above.
• Relevant work experience or professional experience (e.g., internships, summer positions, school jobs).
• Demonstrated recent leadership role(s), such as in a campus club, society, sports team, or other activity.

Compensation and Employment Details

The wage range for this role considers factors including skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range is $28.23 to $56.67.
