Legal Counsel

Job Purpose

A qualified lawyer is sought to join the London Legal Department, which supports a wide range of entities and areas within the Intercontinental Exchange group. This includes ICE Futures Europe and ICE Futures Abu Dhabi (recognised investment exchanges) and ICE Clear Europe Limited (a recognised clearing house and central counterparty). In addition to driving projects, the Legal Department assists the Regulation and Compliance, Treasury, Membership, Finance, and product development teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the negotiation and/or drafting of contractual arrangements, licensing structures, exchange, and clearing house rules.
• Carry out regulatory analysis and research across a range of matters.
• Participate in various projects, including product launches and development.
• Assist with data protection/privacy projects.
• Support various departments in a UK and cross-jurisdictional context.
• Bolster the team’s knowledge of legal developments and trends.

Knowledge and Experience

• English qualified lawyer (NQ – 4PQE); the role is open to candidates qualified in a different jurisdiction.
• Possess a good attitude and a keenness to learn and work with a variety of teams.
• Experience and willingness to work and make decisions independently on routine legal matters.
• Desirable: Experience in regulation that specifically touches exchange trading and clearing, such as MiFID, EMIR, and REMIT.
• Desirable: Experience in banking/finance/treasury and/or in the provision of regulatory advice.
• Desirable: Experience in the derivatives industry (including commodities and financial) and trading.
• Desirable: Experience of working in-house in a highly regulated environment.
