Legal Analyst

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a proactive, detail-oriented legal analyst to join its Legal & Compliance team. This individual will collaborate closely with attorneys, contributing to the firm’s contracting processes and the development of privacy policies and procedures that support the firm’s dynamic operations. The role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous, and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Work on a wide range of document preparation, management, and project-support activities in connection with the firm’s contract review and privacy matters.
• Prepare various contract templates and process documents.
• Review and comment on counterparty terms.
• Revise and maintain privacy policies and notices.
• Assist with implementing new privacy laws across the firm and conduct data privacy impact assessments.
• Support ongoing contract management and privacy compliance.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree, along with a demonstrated record of professional and/or academic achievement.
• At least one to three years of work experience and an interest in learning more about privacy, legal, and commercial risks.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities, proven editing and proofreading skills, strong project management skills, and keen attention to detail.
• Familiarity with, or an interest in, contracts and/or privacy principles and processes is beneficial (formal legal or privacy experience is not required).

Compensation and Benefits

The expected annual base salary for this position is $110,000 to $130,000. The compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
