Job Purpose

ICE Futures U.S., Inc., a subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc., presents a full-time Analyst opportunity within its Market Regulation team. ICE Futures U.S., Inc. is a U.S. derivatives exchange regulated by the CFTC for commodity futures and options. The Market Regulation Department is responsible for enforcing the Exchange’s rules through market advisories, investigations, and disciplinary actions.

In this role, you will investigate trading activity in derivatives markets to detect potential violations of Exchange rules and applicable CFTC Regulations concerning energy, agricultural, and financial futures and options traded on ICE Futures U.S. markets. You will also provide guidance to market participants based on their evolving needs. Success in this position requires a professional, proactive, analytical mindset, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to create efficient, innovative approaches to data gathering and analysis, communicating clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

  • Develop substantive knowledge of Exchange’s rules and CFTC regulations.
  • Stay informed on relevant Federal regulations, policy, and industry developments.
  • Develop deep knowledge of commodity markets, particularly energy, financial, and agricultural markets.
  • Monitor the relationship between cash commodity fundamentals and the futures market, especially in energy and agricultural sectors.
  • Work with large, complex datasets.
  • Research data from various real-time and post-trade systems to identify abnormalities or potential rule violations.
  • Document detailed analyses of trading activity.
  • Conduct investigations of potential rule violations by obtaining testimony, compiling records, and drafting investigative reports for disciplinary committees.
  • Build relationships with market participants and provide guidance on Exchange rules.
  • Improve common processes to find efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with others on technology and systems to enhance operational processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or Juris Doctor.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with futures markets, commodities, and trading.
  • Familiarity with data analytic tools is a plus.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter capable of prioritizing work and meeting deadline pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with market participants, federal regulators, and executive management.
  • Knowledge of futures exchange operations, trading, risk management, or regulations.

Compensation and Benefits

New York Base Salary Range

The expected base salary for this role, if located in New York, is between $70,000 - $90,000 USD. This range does not include Intercontinental Exchange’s incentive compensation. While this is general guidance, compensation at ICE is based on the individual's skillset and experience.

Illinois Base Salary Range

The expected base salary for this role, if located in Illinois, is between $60,000 - $80,000 USD. This range does not include Intercontinental Exchange’s incentive compensation. While this is general guidance, compensation at ICE is based on the individual's skillset and experience.
