Network Engineering Internship

Meta is looking for talented, highly motivated university students to join our Network Engineering team. As a member of the team, you will work alongside experienced Backbone, Data Center, and Production Engineers (Network) on a large-scale global network.

This network is constantly growing, and your primary function will be to ensure that it and its related services are reliable, robust, and can scale to meet the challenges of serving over a billion users. Automation and continuous improvement are key to meeting our demands. You will be responsible for developing and deploying network designs, automation systems, and network performance improvements into our production environment.

This role is ideal if you want to solve complex problems seen only in large-scale environments, develop innovative solutions to major challenges, and contribute to one of the most dynamic, fast-paced networks in the world.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol data center and backbone networks.
• Define and develop optimized network monitoring and automation systems.
• Partner with top industry engineers on advanced code and systems that support billions of users globally.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with computer networks.
• Familiarity with UNIX, TCP/IP, network fundamentals, or similar technologies.
• Experience coding in at least one language (Python and C++ are heavily used).
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts related to network design and management.
• Knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP and ISIS.
• Experience working cross-functionally.
• Intent to return to a full-time degree program after the internship.

Requirements

• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
