Summer College Internship Program

The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week paid internship experience designed for undergraduate and graduate students. Interns have the opportunity to participate in development workshops, network with the company, and contribute to meaningful projects while receiving mentorship from their respective managers throughout the summer.

Interns may work within skills-based tracks including Business Administration, Information Technology, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other non-technical or technical degree programs.

Program Details

• This is a paid 10-week internship, running from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week).
• Interns may be placed in either a technical or non-technical area.
• Development workshops are provided to assist in the transition from academic study to the corporate environment.
• Housing is not provided as part of this program.

Essential Accountabilities

Specific duties will vary based on the assignment. Candidates assigned to Cyber Risk Management will focus on creatively developing Risk Indicators, early warning indicators, and cyber maturity assessments.

• Work alongside a mentor to support key strategic projects.
• Complete work assignments aligned with business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.
• Perform a mix of technical and non-technical tasks across a broad range of business-related projects.
• Create and deliver presentations upon completion of the internship.

• Maintain strict confidentiality and protect member privacy in accordance with company policies.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program).
• Must maintain good academic standing.
• Desired Majors/Degree Programs include: Computing Sciences & Information Technology (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT Networking, Cybersecurity), Risk Management, Data Analytics, or similar programs.

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels of the company.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail to deliver high-quality work product.
• Ability to collaborate well within a team and establish positive working relationships with peers.
• Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
• Commitment to continuous self-improvement and team functioning enhancement.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently, as well as as part of intra- and inter-departmental teams as required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using a desktop computer in a professional setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Excel.
• A good understanding of Risk Capabilities and scoring concepts.
• A strong aptitude for understanding the root causes and impacts of risks.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation, viewing a computer, and using a keyboard, mouse, and/or phone for three or more hours at a time.
• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training courses as needed.

Compensation and EEO Information

Compensation Range: Level I - Minimum $18.00 - Maximum $20.00.

The salary range indicated reflects the minimum and maximum for this position. Actual salary depends on factors including, but not limited to, budget availability, prior experience, knowledge, skill, and education as they relate to the minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity. The posted salary range is one component of the total rewards package, which may include health/dental insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, paid time off, and holidays. There may be an opportunity for remote work, decided on a case-by-case basis.
