Analyst, Collateral Management - Singapore
An Analyst within Collateral Management will focus on mitigating counterparty credit risk by performing and reengineering key operational processes. This role requires strong experience in Collateral Management or Derivatives. The Analyst will be expected to approach tasks with innovation and proactivity, highlighting inefficiencies, identifying risks, and implementing necessary improvements. Furthermore, the role requires providing a high level of service to clients.
This position involves close partnership with various departments, including Credit Risk Management, Legal and Compliance, Sales, Trading, Risk Management, and Operations. Strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.
About the Role
Collateral Management is part of Margin, Collateral & Valuations Operations—a global, multi-faceted, and cross-product function focused on mitigating counterparty credit risk through active monitoring of clients’ derivative and securities financing portfolios. The team is a global unit with locations in Salt Lake City, New York, London, Bangalore, and Singapore.
The team supports products and businesses across foreign exchange, commodities, credit, equity, interest rates, repo, insurance/pensions, and bespoke structured derivatives and arrangements. Team members manage complex processes, developing competencies in derivative & security products, legal agreements, technology flows, and regulations.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
- Provide team oversight regarding the status of Issuance, Bookings & Controls.
- Provide training and coaching to team members to support ongoing development and upskilling.
- Act as the first point of escalation for client inquiries and issues.
- Resolve and escalate client disputes and regulatory queries as appropriate.
- Support new client onboarding activities.
- Liaise with internal groups (Credit, Sales, Trading, Middle Office, Legal, Front Office, Settlements, and Corporate Treasury) to resolve collateral-related issues.
- Perform portfolio reconciliations.
- Support collateral optimization activities.
- Manage monthly interest and coupon settlements.
- Perform control functions to ensure the integrity of operational processes.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify solutions, review processes, and investigate issues in detail.
- Experience or exposure to portfolio reconciliations and processing margin calls is advantageous.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with external clients and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, or the ability to learn Excel macros and advanced functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Functional Expertise: Maintain daily updates with emerging business, economic, and market trends relevant to the role.
- Technical Skills: Demonstrate technical skills required for the role, attention to detail, initiative to broaden knowledge, and appropriate financial and analytical capabilities.
- Client and Business Focus: Ability to manage client requests, build professional relationships, understand client needs, and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
