Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all parts of the firm to provide banking, securities, and asset management services to clients around the world. Additionally, Operations provides essential risk management and controls to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and reputation. For every new product launched and every trade executed, Operations develops and manages the processes and controls that enable business flow.
Securities Settlements Operations provides operational support for multiple businesses, including (but not limited to) Trading, Sales, Investment Banking, and Private Wealth. Functions covered include Inventory & Liquidity Management, Settlements, Exception management and Reporting, and Strategic Projects. We support our international client base across global markets.
Traders and Clients execute Buy & Sell transactions in major markets, with an increasing presence in emerging markets. Upon Settlement Date, trades must be matched and inventory made available to ensure the successful exchange of securities and cash.
Securities Settlements Operations is globally located in London, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Singapore, Tokyo, and Bangalore.
The department’s key priorities are to mitigate risk, provide exceptional client service, and drive strategic change.
Job Responsibilities
The position is with the Securities Settlements and Inventory Management Operations team, reporting to the Department Manager.
Key stakeholders and interactions will include GS Trading and Sales Desks, Engineering and Operations Teams, Credit, Legal, Compliance, and external counterparties.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders – Business, Engineering, Operations, and Credit. Actively engage, partner, drive changes, and provide excellent service and support.
- Ensuring transactions are pre-matched and delivered in a timely manner (in line with SLAs).
- Monitoring Key Risk Indicators and ensuring they are at or below agreed levels.
- Proactively managing the operational risk inherent in the business.
- Ensuring all operational risks and issues are identified and mitigated appropriately and proactively.
- Ensuring adequate operational controls to manage non-generic business.
- Completing and overseeing daily checklists to ensure all controls, procedures, and processes relating to the assigned functions are followed.
- Acting as a change agent to solve problems at the root cause while also identifying opportunities to automate flows.
- Consistently striving to identify opportunities to reduce risk, minimize manual processing, improve client experience, and enhance commercial effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual interested in operating in a dynamic work environment where communication and teamwork skills are essential.
- Exceptional client service and relationship building skills are required to interact effectively with clients and the team.
- The candidate must have a strong control focus and be achievement-oriented to produce results that ensure all risk is mitigated.
- Experience with vendor platforms (Jasdec, JSFC, CCASS) in a daily business context.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of one year of work experience in a securities settlement, inventory management, trade support, or securities middle office role.
- Knowledge of the Equities industry and markets is an advantage.
- Experience in people management or project management is an advantage.
