The Role

We are seeking a Trading Assistant to join the Discretionary Macro and Fixed Income (DMFI) team at Schonfeld. The ideal candidate will have a passion for trading and a deep interest in financial markets. In this role, you will work closely with Portfolio Managers (PMs) while proactively collaborating with the Operations department on trade bookings, data analysis, and reporting. You must be able to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholder groups and communicate effectively with others.

What You'll Do

  • Support Portfolio Managers with trade bookings and overall blotter management.
  • Manage trade recaps to ensure accuracy across the entire trade life-cycle process and within all relevant systems.
  • Oversee position management and handle P&L inquiries within the PMS and trader systems.
  • Manage FX & Futures rolls, expiries, cash balances, and trade/position-impacting events.
  • Assist with the Trading Assistant Blotter tool.
  • Contribute to and solve problems related to automation and tooling to reduce risk and close operational gaps.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and Portfolio Managers regarding various risk and attribution reporting needs.
  • Ensure strict adherence to compliance and due diligence measures in accordance with regulatory and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Product, and P&L Valuations teams to ensure vendor and internal support systems align with the accuracy required for booking and P&L modeling within the expected firm structure.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience supporting Portfolio Managers or in a trading capacity.
  • Knowledge of operational risk and how trade life cycle events impact P&L.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and various Fixed Income and FX products, including futures, forwards, swaps, and options.
  • Proficiency in Python programming for data analysis, automation, and tool support/development.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills, coupled with effective communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to incorporate AI into routine workflows for analysis, automation, fact-finding, and operational efficiency.
  • Self-manageable with intellectual curiosity, always seeking the best possible solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask easily, maintain close attention to detail, and possess a strong interest in market and product structures.
  • Advanced Excel and data handling capabilities, including expert-level manipulation, analysis, and visualization.

Preferred Qualifications

We'd love it if you had the following:

  • Experience working in a hedge fund, investment bank, or asset management firm.
  • Cross-asset, multi-product knowledge across Rates and FX instruments.
