About the Banking Division

Mizuho’s Banking Division provides corporate and investment banking coverage, sponsor coverage, advisory and solutions, and loan capital markets and syndicate services to leading international corporations, financial institutions, and public sector entities in the United States and Canada.

The division supports client business activities throughout the region through an extensive range of capital markets and lending capabilities. Integrated coverage, advisory, and product banking teams manage client relationships, develop strategic transactions, execute banking and securities mandates, and originate ideas for potential acquisitions, divestitures, and investment opportunities.

Job Summary

U.S. Investment Banking Analysts are directly involved in the design, origination, structuring, and execution of mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, leveraged finance, and other global products and services for existing and prospective Mizuho clients. Analysts are expected to understand the implications of transactions, identify key industry and product trends, and contribute to pitch and deal materials that enhance client deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry, and company research and analysis.
  • Draft and prepare pitch books with detailed industry materials for multiple Consumer/Retail sectors.
  • Conduct analysis and develop models for corporate finance alternatives and due diligence related to client transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic alternatives, capital structure development, acquisition finance, syndicated loans, and capital markets financing.
  • Perform financial modeling, valuation, comparable and relative value analyses, and market-specific analysis.
  • Facilitate and coordinate product group idea generation and solutions development across a broad platform of global capabilities.
  • Draft client pitches and marketing materials covering mergers and acquisitions, public and private debt and equity capital markets, syndicated bank financing, and other internal documentation by coordinating internal and external resources.
  • Assist with financing structure, underwriting transaction evaluation, preparation, due diligence, and execution.
  • Assist in developing and cultivating client relationships.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics and a minimum of one year of investment banking, corporate finance, or capital markets experience with a top-tier global bank.
  • Interest in the Consumer/Retail industry; experience with banking transactions related to the Consumer/Retail industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of corporate finance, securities, financial markets, and risk and pricing analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and product solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Maturity and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to convey ideas effectively.
  • Creativity and intellectual curiosity.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.

Compensation

The expected base salary ranges from $110,000 to $130,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
