Position Overview

Greystone is seeking an Intern to join its Healthcare Loan Origination team at its New York City headquarters. This position provides organizational and analytical support to an Origination team that delivers debt products to healthcare owners and operators, including FHA, Bridge, and Mezzanine financing.

The 10-week summer internship program is designed for undergraduate students, particularly rising seniors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an interest in real estate finance, lending, or originations and be motivated to learn and grow with the team.

This is an opportunity to work directly with one of the largest Healthcare HUD origination teams in the country, which has financed more than $2 billion in HUD-insured and Bridge loan products. The team operates like a small startup with a client-centric, results-oriented mindset.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in a 10-week program focused on identifying and analyzing healthcare real estate opportunities from a lender’s perspective, including short-term Bridge loans and HUD 223(f) projects involving skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care assets.
  • Assist with initial underwriting and deal sizing for prospective opportunities using historical property financials, borrower pro formas, and market data.
  • Monitor and evaluate monthly performance trends and metrics for healthcare assets, draw conclusions, and prepare written summaries for senior team members.
  • Assist with ad hoc analyses for projects at each stage of the deal lifecycle, from initial sizing through closing.
  • Attend meetings and build relationships with internal Greystone team members and other Greystone interns.

Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities

  • Rising senior enrolled at an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated interest in real estate, finance, lending, debt, or originations.
  • Proven academic record of success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and assume responsibility without being asked.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented approach with strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a small-team environment and work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive setting.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Multifamily and/or healthcare analytics or underwriting experience is a plus.

Compensation

Interns based in New York for summer 2027 will be compensated at $29 per hour.
