Eligibility & Responsibilities
Ares is seeking self-motivated, detail-oriented, astute individuals to join our summer internship program. We look for candidates with intellectual curiosity, a growth mindset, critical thinking skills, initiative, and financial acumen. Criteria we consider include:
- Anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student, ideally majoring in a field related to Finance, Business Administration, or Economics
- Track record of academic excellence and participation in campus activities
- Knowledge of finance and accounting is a plus but not required; we are primarily looking for general aptitude and willingness to learn
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Novice to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and proven ability to multi-task
- Initiative and a strong entrepreneurial mindset
- Ability to research solutions and act as a problem solver
- Ability to complete a 10-week summer internship
Responsibilities can include:
- Understanding and executing the due diligence process
- Collaborating with other members of the deal teams
- Designing, building, and updating integrated financial models using Excel and other tools
- Developing and providing investment recommendations and preparing investment committee memos
- Understanding industry research, trends, and drivers
- Conducting market research for investment opportunities in the pipeline
- Interfacing with portfolio companies, management teams, third-party diligence providers, and other external partners
- Supporting fund-level management and reporting
- Supporting deal teams with structuring, underwriting, and closing equity and debt investments across diverse industries

Credit (Atlanta, Chicago)
Ares Commercial Finance (ACF) leverages the scale and flexible capital of the Ares platform to provide innovative asset-based and cash flow solutions to small and middle-market companies, as well as asset-backed facilities to specialty finance companies. ACF is part of the Ares Credit Group, which as of December 31, 2025, had over $406.9 billion of assets under management. Our senior ACF investment professionals have on average over 24 years of experience in commercial finance and asset-based lending.
Our team uses a combination of specialized credit and collateral monitoring to provide clients with flexibility and greater credit availability. ACF can structure and agent deals to support clients’ growth and changing capital needs. Asset-based lines of credit may be structured as working capital financing, bridge financing, turnaround financing, acquisition financing, debtor-in-possession financing, and special accommodation financing.
Global Client Solutions
Relationship Management (Chicago)
Ares is seeking an intern to support the Americas Relationship Management team in marketing the firm’s investment strategies to institutional investors. Responsibilities include managing Salesforce data, preparing customized materials for fundraising roadshows and meetings, and tracking investor activity and preferences.
Interns will conduct market and competitor research to identify key prospects and assist with performance reporting through weekly summaries and campaign trackers. They will help organize team workflows by ensuring timely completion of deliverables and maintaining records of client interactions and meetings. Additional responsibilities include preparing regional meeting materials, distributing notes, and contributing to ad hoc projects across the team.
Investor Operations (Los Angeles, New York)
Ares’ Investor Operations team is seeking interns to support strategic initiatives around fundraising and client experience. Interns will provide project management support and collaborate with Relationship and Product Management teams to streamline processes across departments such as Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Investments.
Interns will conduct fund-level analyses to generate actionable insights and contribute to key projects by drafting presentations and supporting leadership requests. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and building strong networks across the firm. This internship offers a dynamic opportunity to deepen industry knowledge while developing essential skills for long-term success.
Quantitative Research Group (New York)
The Ares Quantitative Research Group (QRG) applies quantitative analytics to private markets. QRG works across asset classes, including credit, private equity, private real estate, and infrastructure, to provide investable insights to Ares’ investment teams, deepen relationships with Ares’ investors, and help develop new products for the firm.
QRG is a leader in private market performance measurement, with a key role in the development of Direct Alpha and Excess Value. It regularly addresses novel questions made possible by the under-researched nature of private assets and leverages Ares’ privileged access to data across private asset classes. QRG consists of three teams—Research, Portfolio Insights, and Data Science—and functions as a firm-wide hub, coordinating closely with quantitative resources embedded within Ares’ investment teams.
Insurance
Ares Insurance Solutions (New York, Charlotte, Raleigh)
Ares Insurance Solutions (AIS) is Ares’ dedicated, in-house team focused on delivering investment, reinsurance, and other strategic capital solutions to insurance clients. AIS works across the Ares platform, leveraging the firm’s investment capabilities to address insurance clients’ objectives such as capital efficiency, yield enhancement, and asset-liability matching.
Interns will gain exposure to the intersection of privately originated investments and the insurance industry by supporting investments, modeling, reinsurance, structuring, marketing, and investor relations. They may also assist with analyzing market and industry trends and collaborate with professionals across Ares’ investment, finance, risk, and operations teams. This internship offers an opportunity to develop a broad understanding of insurance asset management while contributing to analytical and strategic initiatives across the business.
Investor Relations
Real Estate (New York)
Ares is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented intern to join its Investor Relations & Product Management team supporting specialists in Real Estate. The role involves assisting with investor communications, preparing presentations, and conducting market and competitor analysis to inform strategic decisions.
Interns will contribute to fundraising efforts, support new business development initiatives, and manage transactional data for third-party providers. They will collaborate closely with internal teams, including portfolio management, legal, compliance, and marketing, to ensure seamless information flow and strong cross-functional relationships. Additionally, the intern will help streamline data processes and maintain consistency across all investor-facing materials.
Portfolio Management
Credit (Los Angeles, New York)
Real Estate (Denver)
Ares is seeking interns to join its Portfolio Management department within both the Real Estate and Credit Direct Lending groups, providing hands-on exposure to the daily responsibilities of a Portfolio Management professional.
Interns will evaluate pipeline investments, conduct portfolio analysis and reporting, and perform ad hoc research for limited partners. They will also engage in special analytics projects and quarterly valuations. Interns will apply proprietary software tools to monitor portfolio company performance and gain a deeper understanding of the leveraged loan market. Each intern will complete a capstone project developed in collaboration with their manager and presented to the broader investment team.
Throughout the program, interns will interact with key functions across the firm—including deal origination, corporate debt underwriting, investor relations, accounting, finance, performance, and restructuring—building a comprehensive view of Ares’ investment operations.
Wealth Management Solutions
Wealth Management Solutions (New York)
At Ares Wealth Management Solutions (AWMS), we aim to utilize our deep industry expertise and unique culture to provide tailored solutions for private wealth investors in areas such as private credit, private equity, and real assets. Our approach is collaborative, partnering closely with advisors to enhance their understanding of the benefits of private market investments for their clients.
We believe our customized investment solutions open up private markets to a wider range of investors, and provide diversified access to asset classes that institutional partners have long enjoyed. The Wealth Management Solutions Summer Internship offers exposure to various departments within AWMS, including sales & distribution, product management, marketing & research, private wealth partnerships, 1031 exchange, and global strategy.
Interns will work with multiple teams through in-depth rotations, gaining hands-on experience with the daily operations and activities of each group.
