The Technology group leverages state-of-the-art information technology and risk management systems. We are developing new applications to implement truly cutting-edge standards while staying at the forefront of technology and its applications for clients, partners, regulators, and suppliers.
About the Summer Analyst Program
The Summer Analyst Program runs for 10 weeks. Analysts will enjoy extensive contact with Nomura professionals at all levels through discussion groups, seminars, and informal social functions. This program is an integral component of our full-time recruiting.
We aim to provide Summer Analysts with the same level of exposure as a first-year Analyst, with a hands-on opportunity to participate as full members of the team. Summer Analysts are expected to form effective working relationships and demonstrate a commitment to the firm’s goals and values. During the internship, Summer Analysts benefit from working closely with a buddy and interacting regularly with a senior mentor.
About Risk and Capital Technology
Risk and Capital Technology (RCT) provides risk analytics and capital metrics to help the firm manage its risk exposure and capital allocations. Risk IT has a global footprint across London, New York, Mumbai, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. Services and applications include Market Risk, Credit Risk, and Operational Risk.
Additional functions include creating tools to help the Risk business manage new products and model validation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate applications for direct use by business stakeholders
- Own critical components of applications and participate in hands-on development
- Collaborate with QA on unit and integration testing of deliverables, and work with BA colleagues to understand project scope and requirements
- Leverage AI and machine learning techniques to enhance risk analytics, automate workflows, and build intelligent solutions for data-driven decision-making
Desired Skillset
- Outstanding academic qualifications
- Familiarity with programming (Java, Python) and web technology (HTML/JavaScript/JSP/ASP, Unix Shell/Perl scripting)
- Strong foundation in logical and analytical data structures; hands-on programming and problem-solving
- Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to understand financial products
- Meticulous mindset and readiness to take on challenges for mission-critical applications

Requirements
- Outstanding academic qualifications; strong GPA
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field within the United States
- Graduating between December 2027 and June 2028
- Applicants for this position in the Information Technology Division of NHA must be currently authorized to work for any employer in the United States
- The Information Technology Division is not currently sponsoring or taking over sponsorship of employment visas for this position now or in the future, including for Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), etc.
Compensation
- Set base salary at an annualized rate of $95,000 to $105,000 per year, based on the candidate’s enrollment in a degree program
- Non-exempt position eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable state and federal laws
