2027 Equity Research Summer Intern Program (PhD)

Location: New York
Salary Range: $135,000 (pro-rated for Summer)

Leerink Partners offers a ten-week Summer Intern program for PhD students who can intern with us for Summer 2027 and potentially return full time in July 2028 after completing their PhD. This is an opportunity to join a world-class Research team focused on the innovation economy in the Healthcare sector and assist with the day-to-day responsibilities of full-time equity research professionals.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect, evaluate, and apply statistical and financial data on the economy and financial markets, specifically related to researching common stocks within the healthcare industry.
• Analyze and synthesize researched data, presenting trends and ideas related to business opportunities and investment decision-making.
• Observe interviews with company executives and industry leaders to develop and maintain sources of information for analyses.
• Maintain company databases using spreadsheet and database software.
• Prepare reports, opinions, recommendations, and statistical data, including financial statement modeling, to support the firm’s investment policies and/or recommendations.

Experience and Qualifications Required

• Currently pursuing a PhD in pharmacology, molecular biology, physiology, biochemistry, or a directly relevant medical discipline.
• Ability to intern full time during Summer 2027 and potentially start full time in July 2028 (PhD completed by this time).
• Some healthcare exposure, either academically or through job-related experience (preferred).
• Interest in the stock market and Healthcare equity investment research.
• Experience building pro forma financial models, including forecasting revenue, income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
• Ability to synthesize data and articulate findings through excellent written and oral presentation skills.
