Purpose of the Role

Design, develop, and improve software using a range of engineering methodologies, delivering business, platform, and technology capabilities for customers and colleagues.

Accountabilities

• Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Work with peers, participate in code reviews, and help foster a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Apply effective unit testing practices to support code design, readability, and reliability.

Why the Technology Developer Programme?

As a Developer, you will help design, build, test, and maintain systems used across Barclays. The role involves more than writing code—helping solve complex problems for clients and customers. You may work with technologies including Java, C++, C#, Python, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, containers, DevOps, cloud, machine learning, scripting, and real-time systems.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

• Be in your penultimate year of university and be graduating in 2028.
• Bring a genuine interest in technology, strong problem-solving skills, and the drive to deliver innovative solutions.
• The location for this role is indicated in the job title, and you will be based at that location.
• If you receive a return offer to the graduate programme, your location will be the same as it was during your internship.
