Data Engineer I, Sales Data Services (SDS)

Job Overview

Amazon Advertising operates at the intersection of eCommerce and advertising, offering digital display advertising solutions to help customers find and discover what they want to buy. The SDS team is part of the Sales Intelligence, Technology, & Enablement organization (SITE). SDS is a big-data focused engineering team that provides pan-Amazon datasets consolidating advertiser, seller, and vendor KPIs, exposed via data warehousing, fast APIs, and agentic solutions. The data platform is designed to serve Sales teams across WW Advertising orgs for applications including business processes, ML, account management, marketing, and decisioning systems.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support data warehouse/data lake infrastructure using AWS big data stack, Python, and Redshift.
• Develop and manage ETLs to source data from various data lakes and create a unified data model for analytics and reporting.
• Enable technical and non-technical internal customers to drive their own analytics and reporting (self-serve reporting) and support ad-hoc reporting when needed.
• Build deep understanding of large data sources and determine how, when, and which data to use to solve specific business problems.
• Manage numerous requests concurrently and strategically; prioritize as needed and collaborate across teams to deliver results.
• Mentor other engineers, positively influence team culture, and help grow the team.

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of data engineering experience.
• Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
• Experience with one or more query languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala).
• Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python, KornShell).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and EMR.
• Experience with any ETL tool such as Informatica, ODI, SSIS, BODI, or Datastage.
