Software Engineering Intern / Site Reliability Intern

Software Engineering Intern: As a key member of a versatile team, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs. You will design, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions as you grow and evolve during your internship.

Site Reliability Intern: You will work on software development projects to keep important business-critical systems up and running. This includes code-level troubleshooting of traffic anomalies, service maintenance, monitoring and alerts, and building new automation infrastructure. You will help create, fix, extend, and scale code to keep systems reliable and resilient against harmful activity.

Responsibilities

  • Create and support a productive and innovative team, working with peers, managers, and other teams.
  • Develop scripts to automate routine tasks.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution to effectively solve problems.
  • Apply knowledge gained in computer science courses to real-world problems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region.
  • Experience working with data structures or algorithms during coursework, projects, research, internships, or practical experience in school or work (e.g., open-source coding).
  • Coding experience in one of the following programming languages: Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant practical or internship experience (e.g., research assistant, teaching assistant, personal projects, etc.) with programming in either: C++, Java, Python, or Go.
  • Relevant practical or internship experience with one or more of the following: AI/ML, infrastructure, web application development, Unix/Linux, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, information retrieval, natural language processing, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development.
  • Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
  • Ability to complete a 13–17 week full-time internship in the UK starting in either May, June, or July 2027.
  • Currently enrolled in your penultimate or final year of education.
