About
The Google User Experience (UX) Design Apprenticeship is a Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program and a structured learning and development opportunity. During the 18-month program, apprentices participate in on-the-job training, related technical instruction, and career development workshops to build professional, durable skills. Upon completion, apprentices receive a nationally recognized credential certified by the U.S. Department of Labor.
As a User Experience (UX) Design Apprentice at Google, you will develop the skills needed to pursue an entry-level career in UX design. You will solve user needs through product design, shaping experiences using learned UX skills. You will leverage AI-powered tools, when appropriate, for research, synthesis, and prototyping. You will work cross-functionally (e.g., product management, software engineering, data science) to deliver accessible products by applying UX best practices.
Apprentices are paid hourly for their time split between on-the-job training and related technical instruction, and are required to dedicate 40 hours each week to the program. The apprenticeship begins with an immersive virtual onboarding experience to build foundational understanding. Apprentices then join a Google team to train on the job, while continuing to engage in track-specific learnings and career workshops. The program also includes holistic career readiness support, with time and space toward the end of the program to prepare for the next endeavor.
