Ericsson runs several distinct early-career tracks, recruited locally across its global sites and listed on its students and early-careers hub:

• Internships – fixed-term student placements posted role-by-role on the careers portal, open to currently enrolled students.
• Graduate programs – two to three years of structured training with cross-functional and international rotation, open to engineering and business graduates.
• Early Career Program and the Global Sourcing Graduate Program – function-focused entry tracks for recent graduates.
• GO Beyond Program – a 12-month rotation for people with roughly one to three years' experience: six months on transformation projects in your home unit, six months in a different unit, then a permanent role. It runs in Sweden and India and began its latest intake in September 2025.

Because these tracks are recruited locally rather than through one global intake, timing and availability differ by country, and the relevant program depends on where a candidate is based and how much experience they already have – an applicant has to match the right track to their location and stage rather than apply to a single scheme.

It holds more than 60,000 granted patents – one of the largest portfolios in telecoms – and independent essentiality assessments rank it the leading owner of 5G standard-essential patents, at roughly 18–20% of the total with no other company above about 12%. It employs around 87,500 people worldwide as of end-2025 and has made more than 90,000 contributions to cellular standards since 1999, more than any other company. For an early-career engineer the work therefore sits close to the radio-access and core-network standards themselves: a strong fit for someone set on mobile-network and 5G/6G technology, and a narrower one for a generalist software career.
