Citi is looking for talented individuals to join our Quantitative Analysis off-cycle placement program within the Markets team in London. Markets at Citi provides world-class solutions that are as sophisticated and diverse as the needs of the corporates, institutions, governments, and individual investors we serve in 160 countries and territories. We work on trading floors in over 80 countries, supporting client relationships around the clock.

Your time here will look something like this.

Placement Overview

Placements run from three to six months, with flexibility on start dates. You will be placed in Quantitative Analysis, Structuring, or Exotics Trading.

In these areas, new insights from the worlds of finance and academia drive innovation and excellence in mathematical and quantitative trading. Working alongside experienced professionals, you will have the opportunity to actively participate and develop your skills. At the end of your placement, successful analysts will be considered for a place on a full-time program.

What You’ll Do

  • Create, implement, and manage mathematical models that drive the Markets business.
  • Price, trade, and manage risk across a diverse range of market products.
  • Collaborate with traders and salespeople in technical product areas to help address client needs.
  • Support innovation by developing new products that align with the firm’s risk framework.
  • Market new products to salespeople and occasionally assist in presenting solutions directly to clients.
  • Respond to client-specific requests for product solutions, leveraging expertise and creativity.

What We’ll Need From You

You’re interested in Markets and determined to succeed. As industries continue to restructure and grow, we’re looking for professionals with a global perspective on the future of banking who want to make an impact at the corporate level. We value diversity.

We’re also looking for the following:

  • Have obtained or are in the process of obtaining a Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Maths, Physics, Computer Science, or other scientific disciplines.
  • Have a good understanding of finance and an interest in Markets.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Knowledge of programming languages (VBA, Python) is highly desirable.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, and exceptional planning and organisational skills.
  • Be intellectually curious and proactively seek out new and creative ideas.
  • Be a self-starter who thrives independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a strong commitment to personal growth and career development, including mobility and flexibility.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethical decision-making.
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English.
