Job Description
Join our team as a Medical Technologist (Med Tech) and help improve patient health through accurate and quality laboratory analysis. At Thermo Fisher Scientific, you’ll contribute to meaningful work that supports global clinical trial services and life-changing therapies.
The Medical Technologist I performs analysis and evaluates individual and related laboratory data, identifies patterns or trends that suggest significance of results, and determines the level of clinical significance.
What You’ll Do
- Performs, reviews, and interprets complex, esoteric, and routine chemical, hematological, coagulation, renal, lipid, and hormonal analyses using manual, automated, and/or microscopic methods.
- Integrates analytical results with specific and highly varied clinical trial protocols to evaluate credibility, appropriateness, and accuracy of test results, facilitating entry or exclusion of subjects from research programs.
- Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs clinical laboratory equipment, including routine preventive maintenance, calibrations, and safety checks.
- Recognizes and pursues instrument problems and resolutions.
- Evaluates analytical reagents, calibrators, and QC standards to ensure the accuracy of analytical results.
- Evaluates quality control procedures and results; implements corrective action when indicated. Assists with ongoing statistical data analysis to detect trends and problems and undertakes corrective action.
Work Schedule
- Flex shifts; 40 hours per week (5-day work week), Monday to Saturday, excluding lunch.
- Flexible work hours to meet operational needs (rotating shifts may be required: 8:00am–5:00pm, 9:00am–6:00pm, or 10:30am–7:30pm).
- Rotating public holiday duties and on-call duties on Sundays.
Environmental Conditions
Laboratory setting. Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is required, such as safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent, with at least 1 year of relevant Med Tech experience. Relevant Diploma holders with more than 1 year of relevant Med Tech experience are welcome.
- Able to commit to the flexible work arrangement and schedule requirements outlined above.
- Successful candidate will have opportunities to be cross-trained in various sections within the laboratory.

- Able to retain knowledge in various laboratory units and train new employees
