Corporate Infrastructure Division

Operations Americas

Operations is focused on four key areas: Middle Office, Client Service, Risk and Control, Project Management, and Shared Services. Operations professionals work with Sales, Trading, and Information Technology, and are responsible for delivering a client-focused experience that is efficient and meets a high standard of control.

Summer Analyst Program

The Summer Analyst Program runs for 10 weeks. Analysts will have extensive contact with Nomura professionals at all levels through discussion groups, seminars, and informal social functions. The program is an integral component of Nomura’s full-time recruiting and is not a rotational program. Summer Analysts are expected to have the same level of exposure as a first-year Analyst, with a hands-on opportunity to participate as full members of the team.

Summer Analysts are expected to form effective working relationships and demonstrate commitment to the firm’s goals and values. During the internship, Summer Analysts work closely with a peer and interact regularly with a senior mentor.

Potential Team Focus Areas

Client Onboarding

The Client Onboarding team coordinates onboarding of all clients in the US region, covering 200+ Global Markets and Investment Banking salespeople across Equities and Fixed Income. The team focuses on onboarding new clients and maintaining existing relationships.

Transformation Team

The Transformation Team applies a structured transformation methodology across Americas Operations through Business Analysis and Strategic Reengineering. Responsibilities include:

  • Creating project documentation, including Business Requirements Document (BRD), Functional Requirements Document (FRD), Gap Analysis, Risk Impact, and Implementation
  • Facilitating project working groups
  • Creating front-to-back process flows and conducting reviews
  • Producing department-level management reporting

Shared Services

The Shared Services team provides oversight of Settlement and Corporate Action processing for Equity and Fixed Income products conducted by an external vendor. The group partners with vendor teams to mitigate operational risk and ensure the firm meets all regulatory requirements.

KYC (Know Your Client)

KYC helps protect Nomura from inappropriate client relationships by completing risk reviews of business customers based on KYC standards and document requirements established by the firm.

Middle Office

Middle Office bridges front and back office by handling trade validation, risk management, P&L reconciliation, collateral operations, and regulatory compliance. The team provides independent verification to safeguard financial integrity and operational efficiency.

Desired Skillset

  • Outstanding academic qualifications
  • Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to understand financial products
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital tools (e.g., Alteryx)
  • Programming knowledge (e.g., Python) is a plus
  • Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) and interest in applying AI to operational processes and workflow optimization

Requirements

  • Outstanding academic qualifications; strong GPA
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree (preferably Business, Economics, Accounting, or Finance)
  • Graduating May/June 2028 or May/June 2029
  • Applicants for this position in the Operations Division must be currently authorized to work for any employer in the United States
  • The Operations Division is not sponsoring or taking over sponsorship of employment visas for this position at this time

Compensation

The intern position has a set base salary at an annualized rate of $70,000 per year. This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.
