Summary of Role
We are seeking a Cybersecurity Intern to join our team in Malta, New York for Summer 2027. As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will assist in maintaining and enhancing GlobalFoundries data protection and data loss prevention (DLP) strategies while gaining hands-on experience with cybersecurity practices, policies, and technologies focused on safeguarding sensitive information.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with the implementation, configuration, and monitoring of DLP tools to help prevent unauthorized data exfiltration.
- Analyze alerts and reports from DLP systems and provide recommendations for mitigating data leakage-related risks.
- Support investigations into data breaches, including root cause analysis and documentation.
- Help develop and update data protection policies and procedures.
- Work on projects related to DLP and other data protection technologies and initiatives as assigned.

- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Additional Cybersecurity Responsibilities (General)
- Evaluate, test, monitor, and maintain information systems (IS) and cyber security policies, procedures, and systems.
- Create, implement, and oversee identity management systems to meet specific security needs and complex compliance standards.
- Ensure IS and cyber security plans, controls, processes, standards, policies, and procedures are aligned with IS standards and overall IS and cyber security.
- Identify security risks and exposures, determine the causes of security violations, and suggest procedures to halt future incidents and improve security.
- Develop techniques and procedures for conducting IS, cyber security, and access/identity risk assessments and compliance audits, including evaluation and testing of hardware, firmware, and software for potential impact on system security, and investigation and resolution of security incidents such as intrusions, fraud, attacks, or leaks.
Required Qualifications
- Education: At least a sophomore at the time of application and actively pursuing a Bachelor’s in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field through an accredited degree program during the internship.
- Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing.
- Language Fluency: English (written and verbal).
- Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior related internship or co-op experience.
- Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc.
- Strong interest in leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support effective decision-making.
- Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute on solutions and navigate ambiguity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and data protection practices.
- Familiarity with DLP tools (e.g., Forcepoint, Microsoft Purview) and related concepts.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
Expected Salary Range
$20.00 - $40.00
The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
