Assistant Analyst

Purpose of Job

The Assistant Analyst is responsible for completing operational tasks across equivalent middle office functions that directly interface with Banking origination, portfolio teams, and Treasury front office. Day-to-day, the team(s) process disbursements (and other related transactional activity) across a range of products, ensuring that EBRD accurately and timely processes, settles, and manages Banking/Treasury products in the global markets.

Where relevant, the role will lead changes to legal documentation post-signing. Supported and mentored by colleagues, the individual will manage a portfolio of basic operations and interact with multiple teams across the Bank, including (but not limited to) Treasury, Risk, Office of General Counsel (OGC), and broader Corporate Services teams.

Where necessary, the role holder is expected to handle client (borrower) communications on banking matters. The Assistant Analyst will also support colleagues by managing project covenant reporting across the wider portfolio of deals, sharing these documents with external parties that participate in EBRD’s projects, and performing other tasks to support and learn from experienced team members.

The role requires a continuous improvement mindset and active participation in improving operational processes across the OSM function.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Operational Performance

  • Under the supervision of colleagues, execute operational processes across a range of activities in equivalent middle office support functions to facilitate adequate documentation, booking, funding, and monitoring/reconciliation of the Bank’s products (e.g., disbursing bank funds across a range of product types).
  • Deliver outstanding operational performance by adhering to established operational metrics, including timeliness, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Respond to operational queries promptly and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with relevant departments when actions may have significant implications for projects (or related transactional activity) to ensure decision-makers understand the associated risks.
  • Support the wider team with tasks related to transaction processing, reporting, and data management across the portfolio of projects.
  • Where necessary, provide additional capacity across OSM to maintain expected service levels, including unanticipated deadlines defined by Banking clients.

Operational Standards, Risk, Control & Governance

  • Contribute to a culture where team members are accountable for the quality of their output, ensuring adherence to established quality/assurance targets.
  • Support broader improvement of OSM’s control environment.
  • Ensure new processes and practices are conducted in line with quality standards, applicable policies, and relevant legislation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Act as a team player in creating a “best in class” operational function.
  • Support the identification and implementation of improved efficiencies in OSM to enhance the overall service experience (e.g., timeliness, quality, engagement).
  • Demonstrate awareness of personal and broader operational metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement either individually or collectively.

Service Management & Third Party Management

  • Conform to established service levels and standards in delivering day-to-day operational activity.
  • Where necessary, collaborate with other colleagues/teams involved in a hybrid service model.

Stakeholder Management

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to facilitate operational outcomes that adhere to established service levels.
  • Positively influence others to help deliver a sustainable operations function.
  • Proactively work with the business to identify and manage backlogs, guide prioritisation, and communicate broader operational constraints when required.
  • Serve as an ambassador for OSM across other departments by delivering outstanding operational outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • University education or equivalent work experience.
  • General banking, legal, and credit skills, with a basic understanding of treasury and banking products transacted by EBRD.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Experience with Summit, Frameworks, SAP, Debt Domain, and SWIFT systems is considered advantageous.
  • Strong team player with attention to detail; strong analytical skills with the ability to organize, multi-task, and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience as part of a team that transformed itself using continuous improvement techniques is beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of another language is advantageous.
  • Positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
