Purpose of the Role

Business Development is an essential part of the business cycle to help ensure the sustainability of the Bank’s pipeline, support overall external visibility, and expand the Bank’s network across regions and the investor base. The Business Development deliverables require a systematic strategic approach to outlook and planning, consistent external and internal leadership across several teams, and ongoing innovation in business development delivery products, channels, and formats.

The Assistant Analyst provides proactive research and analytical support to Business Development Unit (BDU) team members in HQ.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • As required by the Principal, Business Development Lead, support the preparation of marketing business development visits for EBRD senior management (including the President, FVP, VP Banking, and MDs).
  • Research, analyse, and prepare marketing materials for meetings (including comprehensive briefing packs and presentations, as required).
  • Maintain and regularly update essential marketing materials, including presentations and deal tombstones (and other relevant materials as required).
  • Maintain and update Business Development databases in a timely manner (including Client Dynamics, BTOR, Slides Library, the BD intranet area, and the external BD webpage).
  • Ensure accessibility and quality of relevant information and respond to information requests in a timely manner.
  • Primary responsibility for maintaining the Project Enquiries and New Business Enquiries mailboxes, ensuring timely responses to all incoming enquiries.
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations and other materials for meetings and committees.
  • As required, assist with the preparation and coordination of conferences and events the BDU is involved in, with close attention to detail and effective troubleshooting on the day to ensure smooth and timely delivery.
  • Obtain appropriate sign-off on documents when required, ensuring documents are signed or coordinated in a timely manner.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree with specialisation in finance/business; a Master’s degree is desirable.
  • Corporate and/or business development, marketing, and research experience from a leading investment/merchant or commercial organisation.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of the banking project cycle would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and understanding of some marketing principles.
  • Knowledge of the Banking Department’s procedures and the Bank’s rules would be an advantage.

Skills

  • Fluent English (written and spoken); knowledge of another language relevant to the Bank’s regions would be an advantage.
  • Good sense of priorities, ability to work under pressure, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritise work with continuously changing priorities.
  • Very good attention to detail.
  • Strong team player.
  • Ability to work with precision and accuracy.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.

Key Technical Skills

  • Computer literate, including full Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Knowledge and maintenance experience with various BDU databases (BTOR, Client Dynamics, Slides Library, and Documentum).
  • Knowledge of the Bank’s systems (SAP, DTM, Business Performance Navigator, Data Warehouse).
  • Internet search engine skills.
  • Prior experience in Central and Eastern Europe/former Soviet Union, SEMED, and/or SSA is desirable.
