Job Description
Join an inclusive team passionate about using their expertise in the relentless pursuit of innovation for customers and partners. The solutions we build help make everything from virtual reality experiences to breakthroughs in neural networks possible, while committing to integrity, sustainability, and giving back to our communities.
As a Metro Real-time Defect Analysis (RDA) Process & Equipment Engineer, you will develop, deploy, and sustain RDA capabilities that enable robust process control and equipment performance across advanced packaging and New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing environments.
You will integrate process knowledge, equipment behavior, and automation intelligence to improve tool stability, detect early signals of risk, and accelerate learning during NPI, pilot, and ramp phases. This role serves as a critical link between Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, NPI teams, and RDA, ensuring monitoring strategies are technically sound, actionable, and scalable to high-volume manufacturing (HVM).
You will work closely with Site and Global RDA, Process, Equipment, Automation, and IT teams to drive continuous improvement in equipment capability, process robustness, and manufacturing readiness.
Job Responsibilities
- Integrate AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.
Identify, Select, and Deliver RDA Solutions to Support Process and Equipment Performance
- Develop and sustain RDA monitoring strategies aligned to advanced packaging process requirements and equipment behavior.
- Translate process and equipment knowledge into effective Statistical Process Control (SPC), Fault Detection & Classification (FDC), and RDA rules, alarms, and diagnostics.
- Identify equipment-related process sensitivities, interactions, and failure modes, particularly during NPI and early ramp.
- Drive improvements in tool stability, repeatability, and process window control through data-driven insights.
- Support deployment and tuning of new RDA capabilities, scripts, dashboards, and automation logic for new tools and package types.
- Ensure monitoring strategies evolve appropriately as NPI transitions to HVM.
Support Process and Equipment Readiness for NPI, Pilot, and Ramp Activities
- Partner with Process and Equipment Engineers to support tool bring-up, qualification, and stabilization using RDA insights.
- Ensure critical process and equipment parameters are monitored effectively during NPI and pilot phases.
- Provide technical input to NPI readiness reviews, risk assessments, and ramp decision checkpoints.
- Support rapid root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment- or process-driven Excursions.
- Validate monitoring coverage and effectiveness for new equipment platforms and process flows.
Drive, Improve, and Maintain Equipment and Process Performance Metrics
- Analyze equipment and process performance metrics such as availability, stability, excursion rate, and recovery effectiveness.
- Use RDA and manufacturing data to identify chronic issues, systemic gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Support MTTR reduction, tool performance optimization, and process capability improvement initiatives.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to improve equipment reliability and process robustness.
- Ensure accurate documentation and traceability of issues, actions, and improvements.
Collaborating on Continuous Improvement and Standardization
- Work closely with Site and Global RDA teams to standardize monitoring approaches across tools, processes, and sites.
- Collaborate with Equipment, Process, and NPI teams on continuous improvement projects and technology transitions.
- Provide technical guidance on RDA best practices from a process and equipment perspective.
- Participate in lessons learned, best practice sharing, and knowledge transfer activities.
- Support audits, technical reviews, and assessments with objective data and analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Materials, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or related discipline).
- 0–2 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, advanced packaging, process engineering, equipment engineering, or RDA/automation roles.
- Experience supporting NPI, pilot lines, or early production ramps preferred.
- Understanding of semiconductor equipment systems, process control concepts, and manufacturing variability.
- Hands-on experience with SPC/FDC, RDA platforms, or manufacturing data systems preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to connect process, equipment, and data insights.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence technical decisions.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Growth mindset with a passion for continuous learning.
- Internship or experience in the semiconductor industry is a plus.
- Demonstrated leadership and a track record of impact are highly desirable.
- Interest in and knowledge of the semiconductor industry and Micron is preferred.
- Ability to apply baseline digital fluency and role-appropriate AI literacy to use AI-enabled tools responsibly and effectively for research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, operational tasks, and achieving business outcomes.
