Frontend Developer Internship

Internship Program

Virtu’s internship program offers students an opportunity to learn about the firm and the world’s financial markets. The program includes a company-curated global training week, real-world development projects, and engaging social events to get to know our team and culture.

• Location: New York
• Dates: 10-week program, starting June 7, 2027 – August 13, 2027 (with flexibility if needed)
• Training: Ongoing training throughout the summer and a training week held in New York
• Projects: Real problems to solve throughout the program. Interns will work from a list of projects and have several senior mentors throughout the summer program

Role Overview

Our UI development team is a group of versatile software engineers collaborating with traders and developers to gather requirements, understand needs, and implement real-time trading, visualization, analysis, and reporting tools. Ideal candidates have a passion and talent for designing great, intuitive user interfaces, along with expansive experience with web technologies and JavaScript frameworks.

As an intern, you will complete a variety of challenging development projects. You will work alongside our senior team to improve scalability, performance, and efficiency of our cutting-edge trading systems. This is a rare opportunity to learn firsthand how to design and architect trading tools for scale and performance, and to support the massive amounts of data that flow through Virtu’s trading systems daily.

Requirements

• Rising juniors, or students expected to be ready for full-time employment between December 2027 – June 2028
• Excellent academic background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript, React, and Node
• Experience with TypeScript, Java, C++, or Python is a plus
• Comfort working across a wide variety of projects (frontend/backend and different programming languages)
• Ability to identify issues and create solutions without rigid direction or fanfare
• Highly motivated and tenacious, with a proven ability to take initiative and work independently and within a team
• Team player with a genuine, collaborative approach to achieving collective goals

Salary Range: $5,000 - $5,800 weekly (salary range is exclusive of sign-on bonuses, housing, meals, benefits, or any other forms of compensation)
