Internship Overview

Virtu’s internship program offers students an opportunity to learn about the firm and the world’s financial markets. The program includes a company-curated global training week, real-world development projects, and engaging social events to help you connect with the team and culture.

• Location: Singapore
• Dates: 10-week program, starting June 7th, 2027 to August 13th, 2027 (with some flexibility if needed).
• Training: Ongoing training throughout the summer and a training week held in Singapore.
• Projects: Real problems to solve throughout the program. Interns will work from a list of projects and have several senior mentors throughout the summer.

Role Description

Our Site Reliability/Core Operations Engineers operate in a high-level Linux environment to solve complex technical problems and work with traders and exchanges to understand market micro-structure. A strong interest in technology and the markets is required.

As an intern, you will complete a variety of challenging Core Operations projects. You will work alongside senior team members managing the deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of a sophisticated electronic trading system operating on hundreds of venues around the world. This is an opportunity to learn about external trading connections, counterparty support to risk management, and system triage/optimization.

Requirements

• Rising juniors, or students expected to be ready for full-time employment between December 2027 and June 2028
• Excellent working knowledge of Linux environments
• Competence in at least one programming language—preferably Python, Bash, Perl, Go, or similar
• Ability to stay calm under pressure in high-stress, time-sensitive environments
• Interest in high-transaction environments and/or low-latency systems
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong academic record
• Technical agility and interest in innovative technologies

Desired (Not Required)

• Experience working with financial systems or knowledge of the global financial marketplace
• Experience with SQL
• Experience with configuration management platforms (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, or Salt)
• Knowledge of networking, including both TCP and UDP
