The Systems Team is a cross-functional group that helps solve problems across many areas of the company. You will learn from experienced team members and work closely with simulation engineers.

As an Autonomous Vehicle Simulation Engineer intern, you will become familiar with many aspects of the autonomous system and contribute to validating system performance through simulation.

Role

Autonomous Vehicle Simulation Engineer intern

You will learn about company-specific simulation and development tools and contribute to the important work of validating system performance using simulation. Note: this role does not involve software development, but rather working with simulation and validation processes.

Role responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain simulation test cases by collaborating with software and validation teams to create and update test cases that represent various driving scenarios, ensuring simulated environments reflect real-world conditions.
  • Validate scenario accuracy by reviewing and confirming that tested scenarios are realistic, comprehensive, and meet established performance metrics and requirements.
  • Perform scenario-based virtual testing by supporting system-level verification and validation, running and monitoring simulations, and documenting findings for further analysis.
  • Track simulation metrics by gathering, organizing, and conducting initial analyses to contribute to data-driven insights and testing methodology improvements.
  • Triaging issues and debugging by identifying anomalies in simulation outputs, documenting issues, and assisting in troubleshooting and parameter refinement to improve system robustness.
  • Prepare preliminary test reports and summaries of simulation results for stakeholders, ensuring clear updates on testing progress and outcomes.
  • Learn and use company-specific simulation and development tools; this role does not require coding.

Required experience

  • Undergraduate in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, or related fields (degree or diploma).
  • Experience with Linux.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Passionate about problem-solving.
  • Self-organized and proactive.

Bonus experience

  • Experience with Python programming (advanced exposure).
  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).
  • Experience with real-world robotics deployment.
  • Experience with sensor calibration.
